Then you should check out New American Dream’s “Simplify the Holidays Holiday Survival Guide.” According to these folks, “In one of our New Dream holiday polls, 82% of Americans indicated that they would rather receive a photo album of times shared than a store-bought gift. But that’s just one idea for a meaningful holiday gift. We have lots of others.”
They do, in fact, have lots of other great ideas, including ideas about how to “survive” the holidays. The consumerism of gift giving is what made holidays stressful: stress on modest budgets, competing expectations, and no more focus on the family. I am glad someone has taken the time in a state of the art medium to show us how to re-gain the traditional focus of love and loved ones. Yes, in spite of it all, I love the holidays.
So, shh, don’t tell. Someone on my list is getting New American Dream idea
