I was chatting with a friend of mine earlier this week about all the options available now for homeschool families. We had spent a lot of time together when we were each homeschooling our now grown children. We remembered choosing from what we thought were a wide variety of resources – so many publishers and library book sales to choose from, we thought. Now the range includes online (check out the great social studies project at http://etraining.aretao.com), and blended (online & onground combo), that there are fewer reasons than ever before not to get a great education.
As our conversation wandered through all the possibilties from unschooling to a virtual public school, the phrase “education a la carte” popped to mind. The menu is rich and varied and there is no topic not well covered from soup to nuts. As students return to their books in North America next week, enjoy!
